#13 Excuse #5 - No time to cook healthy meals (04/02/12)

Excuse #5 - No time to cook healthy meals
Rebuttal - Make time.  In reality healthy meals don't take that much more time than other meals.  Best way to go, when cooking big meals like casseroles, make enough to freeze one or two or sometimes three.  Then when the casserole is in the oven, you can be doing other things that need to be done.
Time and excuses seem to be a revolving excuse in different forms.  No time to exercise, not time to cook, lost track of time.  Yes there is only 24 hours in the day, and that is something you need to plan for.  If you try and cram 28 hours worth of stuff into 24 hours then some things are NOT going to get done. What is the first thing not to get done, exercise and cooking healthy. 
My main reason for this title is this.  This weekend, was very busy for me and my wife.  We decided to be a little but more social, but with that being said, we were flooded with things to do and people to see.  We did get the shopping done for healthy foods and what not, but we didn't get to the chopping of veggies.  Every week, trying to be Sunday, if not Monday, we usually spend an hour cutting up veggies and fruit for the week.  This week it is going to be Monday.  Yesterday we went over on our calories, due to dinner with family cooking for use and dessert, and alcohol.  I did take smaller portions that I usually have in the past which is a good step, but still probably over ate in general. So the calories added up very quickly.  This was an indulgent day, but I still logged everything.  It helped that we were very busy walking, shopping and other stuff throughout the day to offset some of the calories.  Alas this weekend wasn't the best of eating, but not the worst, however, we didn't get the chopping done. So today my breakfast was back to a slim fast shake, not the best thing to have, and for lunch I'm having a microwave meal.  The unfortunate of that is it is a Hungryman meal we purchased a long time ago, before we were really looking at calorie intake. So today isn't going to be that healthy either, dinner at least will be not too back for content.  But I will (was going to say try, but decided WILL) exercise tonight to hopefully balance off all additional calories.  Tonight we are cutting fruits and veggies so tomorrow we will be back on track.
